Statement:
These last couple of years, my work reflects the questioning of the connections of everything around us, and seeks an expression for them. The observation of the stuctures of connections across biological systems, public spaces, or, even, social phenomena, led me to wonder about this omnipresent network organization. Another aspect of my work involves the search for the logic of the emergence of the forms in art, observing the construction process of those forms, from the origin to the maturity. The use of simple forms is a constant practice along all my work. Resorting to simple systems to explain more complex ones is typical for human thinking. In my case, regarding the forms genesis in art, the starting point was, sometimes, a regular geometric form that, transformation after transformation, leads to an unexpected one; but, also, the inverse path was followed at times, starting with an irregular form, and ending up in a simple regular geometric one. The combination of the two referred aspects – the genesis of the form and the omnipresence of the nets – was the motivation of my work. The line is the graphic element used in the construction of the forms and the one that allows me the freedom and the joy of expressing the idea of connection. The support used is the paper for the bi-dimensional drawings and the acrylic plate for the three-dimensional objects. In these objects, like those presented here, the depth effect is achieved by overlapping the drawings of the vertical sections of the object, whether real or imagined. The compositions, apparentely simple, suggest the contrast between the simplicity of the forms and the complexity of the nets, a metaphor for the contrast between simple things in nature and life, and the complexity of the connection structures, in particular, human relations.

Juried by Elisabeth Sussman, Curator, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. O In this series I use fractures, cracked porcelain parts, which constitute raw material and now receive room and expression, and serve as a starting point for the work. The sculptural work in this series is a development of the language I create in porcelain – white, abstract organic bodies, in which I seek the hidden in the depth of the shape, beyond the visible. Now the search expands and focuses on the hatching, in the solid which contains, holds, preserves the movement in its form. In addition, I engage in seeking accuracy, conciseness and mainly dosage in the range of opposing values such as movement and silence, eruption and restraint, coverage and uncovering.
