Erica Baptiste - Hope
(graphite on paper)
11'' x 14''
Statement:
Erica Baptiste is a fine artist who works out of her home studio in Brooklyn, New York. Her delicate approach to surrealism uses figures and natural forms to expose emotionally charged expressions of the human experience. Baptiste’s drawings tell intimate stories of anxiety and pain that are both relatable and slightly unsettling.
Linda McCord - On the Mend
(watercolor)
20'' x 27''
Statement:
Linda McCord attended Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington where she later became a part-time painting and printmaking instructor. She recently retired after owning several art galleries for the last ten years in downtown Longview. Her art has been shown extensively in competitions, and she has taken numerous awards nationally and internationally. Her work is in the permanent collection of Grants Pass Museum of Art and Coos Art Museum in Oregon and Saint John’s Lutheran Church in California. Her paintings have been published in several books and she is a signature member of Northwest Watercolor Society, California Watercolor Association, Georgia Watercolor Society, and International Society of Acrylic Painters. Included in the many solo and group exhibits are Barrett House Galleries in New York, Paper in Particular in Missouri, Pacific States Printing and Drawing Exhibition in Hawaii, Saint John’s Religious Arts in California. Alexandra Museum in Louisiana, Sinclair College in Pennsylvania, and the 12th Annual League of American Pen Women in Arkansas. I work in most of the two-dimensional mediums. With my watercolors. I prefer to build up many layers of transparent color. Light and shadow, repetition of shapes and contrast are all an important part of my work. I love color, but value is more important to me.
