Kwong Tim Lee - Forever Guardian
(acrylic)
31" x 40"
Statement:
After a 30-year hiatus, it wasn’t easy to return to painting. Driven by dreams and God’s guidance, I was able to slowly unveil one work after another, to represent Hong Kong in the best light. Born and raised in Hong Kong, the series “Hong Kong in the Fresh Light- Fly up High” aims to allow others to see my hometown the way I see it. Encapsulating moments in everyday life, from my neighbors to every day citizens working hard, these exemplify the Lion Rock Spirit. My hope is that the beauty, rich in culture, can be continually captured as a never-ending series.
Linda McCord - Cobra
(acrylic on canvas)
24'' x 48''
Statement:
Although I work in most of the two-dimensional mediums, I have used acrylic on canvas for my series of paintings titled "Car Show" I focus on the distorted reflections caused by the curve of the surface which create an abstract quality to the images. As I did the drawings, I discovered all kinds of little surprises in the reflections that I didn’t notice at first glance. I hope the viewer is drawn in to take a closer look at all the smaller elements and my discoveries as I created these. The cars are simply a vehicle for what is happening on their surface. Linda McCord is best known for her figurative work in watercolor and acrylic paintings. She has deviated recently to paintings focused on reflections. About her new series titled Car Show, she says, “Cars have very little to do with my paintings, they are simply vehicles for what is portrayed on their surface.” With the emphasis on the sheen of the cars, the detail in the motor parts, and the distorted reflections, her work has been described as abstract realism.
